Mayko Nguyen Partner Michael Brushey
Mayko Nguyen partner Michael Brushey is a musician from Ontario. Michael also works as a session musician and private teacher.
Michael was born to his parents, Peter and Sherri Brushey, in Powassan. His father works at Nokian Footwear, which serves rubber boots with over a hundred years of experience.
According to North Bay Nipissing, His grandfather Joe Brushey had the license bureau in his hardware store, and Peter and Sherri took over the business in 1977.
He started drumming in the forest of northern Ontario at a young age. He grew up playing and observing the forest animals.
Brushey attended music performances at both Humber College and York University. He also took classes with Barry Romberg, Barry Elmes, Rick Lazar, Don Vickery, and Paul Delong.
Michael is a member of the Mystic Drummerz Team and the musical band Brave Shores.
The drummer has worked with the indie folk band The Wilderness of Manitoba on the album Across The Dark. He was joined by Raven Shields, Laena Geornimo and Tavo Diez de Bonilla.
Most recently, he worked with the Toronto band 'Some Kind Of Way' in the acclaimed sophomore album "Today, Tomorrow, & The Next Day." He collaborated with chief architects Nathan Vanderwielen and Christopher Shannon.
